I couldn't get them to group in mine at all. The 110 grain (if they group) would be fine at normal foxing ranges at 3300 fps even a 3 inch drop at 200 would be adequate with the correct zero.

But its a bit of sledgehammer nut joby. The 30.06 is a nice calibre though for a do all rifle if you are putting Boar on the list.

Guys you are all messing with his head ...... 7mm Remington magnum is his answer !!

Seriously, I'd think about the distances you are shooting and what you need to do that. I'd also think about deer meat damage, as the big cartridges pushing smaller bullets re fast and flat so good for fox but CAN make for much meat damage at short range. Lots of folk find this with a .243, with mine, I clipped a should blade on a muntie by 2mm with a bullet running at 3300 and the mess was astonishing.

A relatively slow bullet with a high BC might make a better mid range + stalker ..... I guess this is why so many favour a 6.5 x 55.

The other thing that may be a factor is some calibre's are good with a shot barrel but some are not quite as forgiving if you have loads of powder to burn. If you want a short barrel for vehicle use (I've not had one BTW) I am told a 308 is still good when cut down.

Not sure what is the optimum barrel length for a 25.06 is ?
