ian_in_the_midlands
How good are the new LED gun lights? How do they compare, mounted on a centrefire, with say a Lightforce 140? If comparable, which ones would people recommend? Ta.
LeadWasp
I have a couple of Cluson one's with LiPo batteries and I can't knock them either as bright torches or as a gun light - especially not for the money. They do red, white and green LED versions I think with interchangeable heads. They do conventional 'big' lead acid lamps too! Oh and they come either with end cap on/off buttons AND a microswitch tail to fit on the stock/action. ian_in_the_midlands
It was the night master that caught my eye when browsing lamps. How does it, and the cluson compare to the old lightforce in terms of brightness and beam focus? It looks like the night force has a switch on the back. I prefer this type of switch to a remove button on the stock, but being illuminated, does this dazzle the shooter?
LeadWasp
Can't compare the Nightmaster visible lamps - although I do have an IR one of theirs which gives good illumination. I might be biased as Cluson are close to me. However they use the same LiPo batteries and chargers which I assume are generic far eastern imports - nonetheless very good batteries. Once you get above a certain price most LED lamps should basically do the same job to the same degree. I paid somewhere between £50 and £80 for the Clusons (I have one incredible bright white torch with a 300yd illumination, and one red one for lamping which will illuminate to 225 and eyeshine well beyond that). I've had great service from both suppliers too.
Alycidon
ExSearcher is about the same as a 170 just with a very much smaller beam area. The fixing system to a scope is superior to nightforce. A
