Suzy,

Most successful breedings take place later in the season. The Bitch knows when she is ready and "stands" to the male. However do your poor girl a favour and seperate them out as he will pester and hound her from here on until she is finished.

Just as a note not all bitches bleed some go through what is known as a silent heat.

Suzy, the boys will usually pester for 2 or 3 days before any bleeding is set to occure. :good::lol: Its a guy thing :good: . This is the stag that your puppy is probably at now. In a silent heat you will just have the swelling of the vagina, some time with a small amount of clear discharge.

Silent heats need to be watched as at the end quiet often the bitch can contract pyrometria....two types open and closed......this happens as the uterous does not dissapate the hormones produced during the heat. In open pyrometria there is a greenish discharge from the vagina, in closed there is no discharge...all of a sudden the temperature sky rockets, and the dog just doesn't "look" right. Caught in time the dog is spayed removing the infection and lives a happy life.
