my fac should arrive next week with .22 .17 and .223 I'm in no mad rush for a .223 but want a rimfire straight away.

kelbrook are doing a deal on new cz455 thumb holes in .22 or .17 for 600 quid with a scope mod and bipod.

do I buy a .17 new and get myself a cheap .22lr or get a new .22 and save a bit more then buy a .17 secondhand later on

.22lr rimfire is a very versatile tool when used with a mod. Depending on what you want to shoot, rabbits and other small ground game are no problem, super quite on subs. You have high volosity rounds for a little more reach, anything over that a .223 is the dogs dodars.

The .17hmr is poor in wind conditions, noisy, over rated and personally I wouldn't bother with it.

Before some one tries to slate me, hay, you asked the question and each to their own. Totally your choice, all the best.
