BangBangNik
Ok, I was off out for a walk with the rifle and to check on our poults this evening. Got in the car and turned the key, ignition cam on as normal, turned the key to turn her over and nothing! No resistance in the barrel all the way around. Took key out and ignition was still on! ****** around for 15 mins or so before calling it a day and had to disconnect battery to get the ignition off. Garage is shut till the morning so can any of you car savvy people shed some light on the matter and if it'll be a big job? I assume the ignition barrel is knackard but that's just a guess. Albert 888
Try a bit of lube in the barrel ptfe spray,wd49 etc and try again. My disco had a similar problem.

Tam
Sounds like the switch at back of ignition barrel
PaulJC
Yeah there is a rotary switch attached to the end of the barrel, it is 'keyed' and in time this can wear causing the side driven by the key to not turn it correctly...
BangBangNik
Well thanks for your answers. Turns out the shaft that comes out of the back of the barrel had sheared off so the rotary switch and the barrel were no longer conected.
