ChrisAsh
I brought my diamond nearly 7years ago with I guess 25, 000 cartridges through it in that time. Just over two weeks ago I had my first double discharge and read every post on Bettinsoli on this forum I could find. The main thoughts were it was a problem with the sear's, or have it cleaned or make sure you break it fully open when loading, plus quite a few comments about double discharge on this model. I took a rather novel approach and whilst fully out of guarantee by about 4 years, I contacted Ruag the importers for advice by email. The company replied straight away and admitted they had had a problem with earlier guns but sorted out quite a long time ago, and to send my gun back to them which they arranged for the next day, and they would sort it out with new Sears, Hammers, cocking bar and relevant springs and RFD it back for a total cost to me of £60-65.00. Obviously I took them up on this and today informed that after 2 weeks awayit was ready and would be returned on Monday. What superb service. I asked about the fault and this was the company's responce Quote "We have been importing Bettinsoli shotguns for approx 12-13 years. With the earlier Diamond Line models we did have some problems with double dischargeing and after investigation this was found to be because of the main spring hammer set up.Bettinsoli are a family concern and their reputation is everything to them and when we started challenging them with faulty guns they reacted in a most positive way. Bettinsoli continued to work on their action with continuous improvements, alterations to sear angles, hammer modifications etc.. when we did receive a complaint we always upgraded to the lattest parts and now happily we havevery few problems with new guns, certainly no more than any other manufacturer. If we get guns such as yours that has been in use for a number of years we recommend a complete update." I must say I have had many happy years with my Bettinsoli and hope to keep it for a few more, but must admit the new high rib X8 which is more a sporter with the trap version with a even higher rib being a very strong temptation, it even has a adjustable stock and a new coned barrel, To me a very good set of guns at very compeditive prices often underated as lower priced than the big three. Ps I have no relationship with Ruag just a happy customer using one of their guns and finding old fashion values in there service Regards Chris Edited July 24, 2015 by ChrisAsh

matone
They were prone to double discharging in the 1980`s ,so it took them some time to figure it out !
ChrisAsh
I would guess they have made many models in the 35 years since then and remember many go on like mine for nearly 7 years before you even get the first Double Discharge and knowing the history of reports on here I acted straight away, I would assume that if I had say a Browning or Baretta and the same thing happened I would have just put it down a something strange and carried on shooting untill it became a regular occurance. Ruag are also importers of Perazzi guns so guess the know a thing or two about quality, and as they state only started the import of Bettinsoli about 12 years ago If anyone has brought the new Bettinsoli X8 or X9 I would be interested in their views on it as looking to buy one myself, but a bit thin on the ground around East Anglia at present Edited July 26, 2015 by ChrisAsh
triumphant59
I had a bettinsoli diamond a few years ago and a little piece split off the forend. I contacted Ruag to see if they could supply a new forend, they asked me to send photos of the stock so they could match colours which they did perfectly and charged the grand sum of £35 inc postage for the service!!!!
