Anyone else go to Holkham over the weekend?

I went with wife and baby on Saturday. Was blessed that it didnt rain after lunch and we had an enjoyable day. The entertainment seemed to be better than most of the shows i used to go to. Particularly enoyed the stunt plane and also a stunt show on horses.

Only downside was 18 quid each adult to get in the place. I expect food etc to be overpriced as they always are but shocked me paying that much to get in. It wasnt a particularly massive show.

Maybe thats the going rate these days? I never went much last year as it seems they are all much the same these days so we knocked it on the head. Not sure i'll be heading to many more in the future if this is how much it costs!

Good old Rip off Britain-prices for such shows are becoming ridiculous-its not as if, once you are in, there are any discounts on refreshments-if you don't bring your own then you are screwed at every turn. Went to the Thame show a couple of years ago-the brochure showed pictures of Clay shooting and the blurb clearly said that a clay shoot was on site with the opportunity to "have a go"-no such facility was on site and when I complained to the organisers they said that the brochure simply described "typical" events at a country show-my suggestion that they shove their show up their **** in future was duly noted. Only way to combat such behaviour is a massive boycott of these shows-email the organisers to tell them why you will not attend and eventually the penny should drop.

I went to Holkham on Saturday, had a good shoot as I've not shot for ages on some really tricky clays, especially the D bird looper on the sport trap. Thanks to Hitclays for the effort of setting the shooting up.

Went for a walk around after shooting, usual country show stands, reasonable priced food on the other side of the house in the small local produce stands, the commercial food stands were very expensive though.

All in all enjoyable family show. Not geared up for shooters, but the money is in the family entertainment.
