treeman
When looking through the gun mags for a new rifle, I noticed 1 shop selling fully tuned for 'optimum power and acuracy'. Surely it should be like that when it leaves the factory, and you can't legally push the power any further without your FAC ticket. So any body know what the deal is? can you tune an air rifle? kip270
Same as buying a tuned car compared to factory one. Everything is polished and upgraded to better materials compared to standard ones
Cranfield
Do not post information here on how to tune airguns, over the legal limit for non FAC.
treeman
Do not post information here on how to tune airguns, over the legal limit for non FAC. That wasn't my question! But I agree with the wisdom. Should I buy my new gun from the shop that says it is tuned or from another dealer that does not tune them? I thought all rifles sold would already be up to 12ftlbs, is the tuning just a con? They advertise in both Airgun mags.

If I was you I would call the company selling the tuned rifle and ask what if anything the difference is between a rifle advertised as tuned and the same rifle available from other manufacturers without the tuned title, see what they say. SNAKEBITE
I think the correct tem should be "Optimised" and not "Tuned" "Tuning" implies it has been modified to increase power. "Optimised" implies that the exisiting components have been fettled to get the most out of them. A "Tuned" rifle from a shop usually means it has bee cleaned up, had all the moving bits polished etc. On a springer this can reduce recoil and the "twang" you get with some guns. Dougie_fn12
if your talking about " the airgun center " advertisments i think its utter ******.... ive seen two rifles from them and nothing internally has been touched...but you do get good service and a warranty.... i wouldnt bother personally..just buy one from jsr and if you want it tuned get it done or do it yourself mate
SNAKEBITE
Just curious but how can you tell they were not touched internally?
pin
The service promise and the service are good - the "tuned" bit is rubbish. They say they "set them up" but clearly they don't - I had a rifle off them and the scope needed shimming at the back to get it to zero and it was only putting out 10.1fpe with manufacturer specified pellets. Neither of which is a massive headache but when they say they set them up and tune them, you kind of expect it to be done
