murrayfuk
got a newish shoot on couple of fields . rabbits and warrens grouped near small amount of trees also round thin hedgerows the question is should i just stalk the bunnies or is it worth while building a hide??? has anyone built a hide with any success thinking of doing both . . do you build it out of natural materials or use army netting??? any input would be appreciated cheers Murray :*) :*)
gamebag
me & a friend on more than one ocassion built a shell scrape hide (on a field it workes well but it depends on the lie of the land) what that is you go around the field looking for a ditch (which is usual better) or plow furrrow that is within easy reach of your rifle & is close to a hedge close to the distance of the warren. You want your ditch/furrow just deep enough for you to lie level with the lip of said ditch/furrow you then cover your self with cammo net that hides your form and makes you look like part of the hedge. Or you can shadow stalk which involves long slow crawls (slow because you have to keep an eye on your prey at all times so you know when to freze & when to start to move again folowing lengths of shadow to get in to range of prey & then leting it have the good news this does take practice but it can be well worth it. Hope this helps.
red_stag88
I do both. I have shot plently, by just lying still with rifle raised, ready to look down the scope, and many out of a high seat. If you have a good area, wit hpleanty of warrens, lye and wait. Pigeon_decoyer
I find if you position yourself in a lying position with camo net over you and lay dead still the rabbits will never know you are there.
frank555
you could build a hide around yourself and place it attached you your head that way you can stalk then sit and shoot, a sort of stalking hide.
