hodge911 Posted October 21, 2015 Report Share Posted October 21, 2015 hi all I have a problem with line of sight through my scopes on my rifles basically the combs are to low . I sorted the problem on my .243 ruger synthetic paddle stock with a beartooth slip on comb raiser kit and it made a massive difference to my shooting . so I had a think did I want to put the same on my brno mod 2e .22lr .........I decided nah lets do an adjustable comb kit so had a look around and got a few ideas on what they look like inc measurements etc . managed to buy a good std stock from a guy on SD for £30 got some ally bar from local scrap yard £3 and went to see a good mate who has a lathe .......3.5 hrs later and I have the kit ready to fit . wrapped the stock in masking tape spent a while marking it out for cutting and disappeared into the shed to attack with the band saw and pillar drill so once its all together ill get some pics up . but I now have the quandary do sand and finish the whole stock or just oil the faces of the cut section Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
subsonicnat Posted October 21, 2015 Report Share Posted October 21, 2015 Which ever you want to do really mate.. The important thing is, if the wood has been CUT,, you will have to seal the wood.. It has developed NEW Stress points and will twist and warp if you do not seal it.. Damp will get in very quickly, so sooner sealed, least problems.. remmy1100 Posted October 21, 2015 Report Share Posted October 21, 2015 did same thing to my .22 rf and sanded entire stock and used true oil to finish and its been mint ,as for the adjustable comb used aluminium tubing with tight fit aluminium rod for adjustment locked in place by grub screws nice tidy job. hodge911 Posted November 30, 2015 Author Report Share Posted November 30, 2015 (edited) well I,ve eventually got it finished .thanks to my mate who made the adjusters in his lathe out of some ally bar . I cut the stock drilled and fitted adjusters then sanded and refinished using CCL refinishing kit .....didn't want a hi gloss finish so kept it to a nice sheen covered in masking tape marked up ready for cutting cut with the band saw levelled both ways ready for drilling of the small holes for the grub screws holes drilled for adjuster cut out section with adjusters epoxy glued in place adjusters in place and a couple coats of oil applied Edited December 1, 2015 by hodge911 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
