Im the same age as you mate, I shoot a 20 for most things. You will find that recoil off a 12 is no probelms, in some cases the 20 is worse! I am not a giant myself, being one of the smallest in my year, and not particually muscular either. However I shoot 165g .30-06 rounds out of a lightweight rifle, and dont notice a thing. A 24g out of a 12 is much the same as a 28g out of a 20. I still find it comfetable to shoot 32g and larger. Shoot some clays with a 12 and you wont notice the differance.

The heavier the gun, the lighter the recoil!

28g through a 12b would give you less kick than the same load through a lighter 20b. The advantage the 20b has is easier handling.

I was shooting with a 12b at the age of 10!
