red_stag88
I use 28g 6s, they seem to kill them so I dont feal the need to change.
M ROBSON
We use thousands of 12b Clear Pigeon 30g 6's each year and find them very good. You can get 20b shells up to 1 1/2 oz, but I can't see why.
red_stag88
Ducks on the foreshore, geese?
M ROBSON
Then use a 12 bore. 1 1/2oz through a 20b must kick like a mule!
red_stag88
I would use a 12, I can imagine that it would hurt a bit.
Pigeon_decoyer
Because im only 15 my dad doesn't want me to move up to a 12bore yet as i shoot to well with a 20bore but i will soon move to a 12! A 20 does the job for now!
red_stag88
Im the same age as you mate, I shoot a 20 for most things. You will find that recoil off a 12 is no probelms, in some cases the 20 is worse! I am not a giant myself, being one of the smallest in my year, and not particually muscular either. However I shoot 165g .30-06 rounds out of a lightweight rifle, and dont notice a thing. A 24g out of a 12 is much the same as a 28g out of a 20. I still find it comfetable to shoot 32g and larger. Shoot some clays with a 12 and you wont notice the differance.
bigdev
I WOULD SAY GO FOR WINCHESTER RANGERS 28GM No 6, ALSO I HAVE USED 3 INCH 34GM WINCHESTERS THREW MY 20BORE WHICH I GOT OVER IN IRELAND. THEY PACK A PUNCH
Pigeon_decoyer
I just find a 20 more easy to handle because it has the advantage of the weight because the 12 is much heavier. What cartridges do you use for decoying pigeons? At the moment i use 5 30gm, but i have just sorted out my cartridges and found about 35 6 30gm which i will use tomorrow when i go out with my grandad! red_stag88
I perfer 6s in 28g to around an oz. Again the weight doesnt matter, I shoot a heavy trap gun here, no probs.
M ROBSON
A 24g out of a 12 is much the same as a 28g out of a 20 The heavier the gun, the lighter the recoil! 28g through a 12b would give you less kick than the same load through a lighter 20b. The advantage the 20b has is easier handling. I was shooting with a 12b at the age of 10!
red_stag88
You dont actually notice it really.
skywalker
realistically you are only shooting pigeon at 30 yards 28g 6-7 shot should do the job thats what i use
dodeer
Who makes and sells the 1 1/2 oz 20 bore cartridges?
M ROBSON
I'm not sure but i think they were express. They were in a yellow case.
NGhost
Nearly all 20b are yellow, there is a volentary convention that 20 are yellow to warn you not to put them in a 12. 28g 6 or 7 is fine for pigeon.
