markm
The internet phone picks up the signal anywhere in the front and back garden and all round the house but the wi fi signal seems quiet weak. Anyone else got any comments about it, is yours any better.

Anyone else got any comments about it, is yours any better. Home hubs are brilliant WHEN they work. The unfortunate thing is (as stated by a BT friend of mine) they rarely work. For example, my uncle has had 3 since signing up 2 months ago and his work colluage is on his 5 in a year. Once they solve the reliability issues they are good stuff, although one major problem is the supplied software, unlike most routers where you can wack in a ethernet cable and type in the ip address and use html software, which although basic in looks is robust and incredibly functional BT have gone down the custom software on your PC line to make life "easier" for people. Which is probably fine should you just want to use it with 1 or 2 computers wirelessly for general net access. But when you want to open ports, add mac address filters and incoporate it into a larger network....a nightmare! My mates will not let him use his second linksys router as a wireless bridge and ethernet switch it either ignores it all together or only allows computers connected directly to it his linksys router to connect to the net! Tried all night and gave up, what really got our goats is it wouldn't be a bloody problem if the home hub had 4 ethernet points not 1/2 (cant remember exactly!) Andy75
Must be an older version then chap, as the one I set up round a ladies house from work the other night had 4 RJ45's, and you could access the router setup pages from 192.168.1.1 Perhaps ask them for a new one or something if you have an older model?
