Folks,
I have been given 3 laptop batteries to cannibalise to use in my lamps. I have extracted the batteries and now I need to tidy them up for charging and use.
How ever the raised positive terminal ends aren’t present, they are just flat where the track has been soldered across! I have found replacement heat shrink easily enough but can you also buy new/replacement terminals to attach. If not then what’s the best work around, just a blob of solder?

Okay, I'm sure Dave will be able to offer some advice. However, if it were me I'd run them down to the recycling centre and buy some decent, protected cells, even more so if you are using these in series or parallel.

If you still want to use these please make sure you do not leave the charger unattended and if possible charge outside or away from things that are likely to combust. When a cheapo or unprotected cell goes Tonto it's quite a spectacle.

Mick,

I have an intelegent charger and will charge some where safe I have seen the damage they can do no worrys there am fuly aware.

How ever these are Samsung and Sanyo etc quality cells so worth a punt I figure. Also While my Nitecore batterys are protected I dont think my NM ones are and the batterys from other places such as the torch factory and many others I am dubious about also. I bet most arent protected and are just the cheap ones that get sold on the forums and by these home traders.

I use these, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VARIETY-of-Neodymium-Magnets-2mm-Thick-Small-Large-Round-Disc-MEGA-STRONG-/131591404067?var=&has

Choose what size you want, they have the added advantage of stopping the battery rattling about in the tube, Been using them for a couple of years no problem,
