Zetter
Hi All Has anyone done a variation recently in TVP and what sort of wait were you looking at. I checked with my FEO back in October and she said give it till Jan but now I am struggling to get hold of her and wondered if anyone has any experience of how long I will be without my ticket for. I had the nod back in October that the variation shouldn't be an issue as its nothing major from my FEO. Cheers Neil

Zetter
Cheers Mate I dont want to be bearer of bad tiding but when I was phoning up back in October to check if what I wanted would be ok my FEO said the backlog was so bad the prioritisation was renewals, variations and then grants. Also they were issuing section 7s for renewals as a matter of course. This was leading to grant times back in October of about 8 months. This was the main reason I held on until now to even think about putting in for a variation as I would hoping some of the backlog would clear. kory1986
Thanks m8 it just annoying that they can't just tell you this in the first place instead not letting you know that's it's going to be eight months for the lieance last I heard my aplication had been forwarded to fire arms officer and I would here in a couple of weeks lol obviously this is not the case. Zetter
Hi All As an update to the above I thought I would feed back with lead times for guidance if others are doing a variation. I put in for an additional slot to add a second FAC air to my cert for dedicated NV and I had discussed this in advance with my FEO to check if this was likely to be ok and had been given the nod that there shouldnt be an issue. Ground to be used on is cleared over that cal. Variation was sent in at the start of Feb and I have just had a brief phone interview with my FEO to check the details of what I wanted and why. This has been passed as ok and my cert has gone back to HQ for processing to add the slot. My FEO reckons I will get my cert back in under another month. I would guess one for ones may go a bit faster but I hope this helps as a guide for variations as to lead times and how long you will be without a cert (I do know that all circumstances are different i.e. going from rimfire to centrefire). I know that that TVP are still swamped with renewals so I think they are still having a tough time of it.
oxfordfowler
I put in for a variation last year for a 243 - took 4 months to come through. Am still waiting for my SGC renewal to arrive - so far just over 6 months.
Luckyshot
And some people still complain about Durham's service. just had a 1 for 1 variation and a few alterations to my conditions dropped it off on Friday afternoon and landed on my mat on Tuesday morning.
