WildCamper1982
Hello everyone, I have recently moved into a new house and right at the back of my garden is a large field with a wood in the top corner. I have noticed a lot of pigeons and crows about it the area and lots of pigeons keep dropping into this field to feed at the minute. A lad I know owns a lot of the fields in the surrounding area but apparently his cousin owns the one to the rear of my house. I told him I was going to try and approach him in regards to gaining permission to shoot on it, he said you can but he is rather grumpy. If he declines what would be seen as a reasonable offer to try and sway him. I don't mind paying him every year for the privilege but at the same time I don't want to get my leg lifted by saying a stupid figure in order to do so. I haven't seen anyone else shoot in it or in / near the wood at the side of the field either. I'm in a wildfowling club so have BASC insurance, so hopefully that would help matters and obviously are a safe and responsible shooter too. To get a permission like this would be fantastic as it basically in my back garden. I've tried to show you the pictures but for some reason, in settings it won't let me upload them to this post?! Any advise would be great fully received. Iain
pesky pigeon
Wait until the field is getting hammered with pigeons then ask for permission.
FalconFN
What are they feeding on? If they are doing damage to a crop then point that out first and foremost - it's what you can do for him, and not what he can do for you that could get you the permission to shoot.
