Big Dog
The rabbit patch I am shooting on at present to protest young trees has been quite promising. I felt that lamping it would bring best results. These bunnies have been use to no one about as the land has not been work for years. I went out Friday night. I saw a lot of rabbits and though great. I sat in the car for 30mins until dark and then when out. I only saw 2. This fellow below and one that got into long grass. It was very very calm so I don't know if that meant they could hear a smell me from all angles??? Any of you guys got any thoughts to increase my hunt
Evil Elvis
Me and jerico had the same thing recently, bunnies EVERYWHERE during light, but after dark we shot 5, when daylight there were literally dozens, temp dropped to 3c, so perhaps that had something to do with it. black hat
buy the sounds of it you are going out just after dark as you say you waited in the car i find lamping best a few hour after dark to be best ,not sure if they go down till their eyes get used to dark (or in for tea)
auto culto
you need to do your homework on the ground that you shoot, I have a few different areas and the bunnies are out at different times to each other, In one area they only seem to venture out between 00:00 - 05:00 whereas 30 miles away they are between 16:00 - 21:00. So all you need to do if find their window and nail them I would suggest a 01:00 trip to see whats happening.

Good advice Always pays to do a 'recky' on any land to see what goes on and when before you shoot it. I've been known to walk around with bins taking notes, sounds sad and anal but reaps rewards in the long run. Nice catch though
rabbithunter
I only go out with the lamp around midnight that gives the rabbits time to get in the fields ,try and go when there is no moon .A little wind is good ,try and work it so you are always down wind ,i only use a small lamp with just enough beam to shine about 150 yards not something that will light the whole field up ,or stick a red, blue, green, filter on your lamp.I normally try and stick to about 50 yards out from the edge of the field, try and be as quiet as possible also i find if i go by myself i get better bags .Hope some of that helps good luck with your lamping
pin
Foxes, what they are worried about, are creatures of habit. They tend to do the same "runs" every night to see what's about, you may have been there looking at fox'o'clock
