walshie
I've got a lightforce striker 170 non-variable lamp. Would it be easier/cheaper to sell it and buy a variable power one or is it a simple task to wire some sort of dimmer onto it?
steve_b_wales
I have used these switches for many years. They work well on all lamps. You can take the circuit board out to make the unit smaller if need be. This is the Ebay number: 400976946651 Don't let the cheap price put you off. You can buy them directly from this country. Shop around to find a seller.

And you can remove the circuit board from the casing, to make it smaller. I fitted one into the casing and handle of a Lightforce Blitz 240. I think the 240 blitz is a bit bigger than mine, but I have a hammer, so it should fit.

The circuit board was placed inside the lens housing, and I wired the rest into the handle. I have now removed it though. What I have done with my other lamp is to velcro the variable power control to the top of the battery, then connect the leads into a plug, and the lamp connects to the plug. I use the lamp in one hand and control the power output with the other. Not perfect, but it works. I use these connectors, which are far better. http://www.amazon.co.uk/ORANGE-RUBBER-CONNECTOR-LAWNMOWER-CATALOGUE/dp/B004TRSUKW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1455634173&sr=8-1&keywords=lawn+mower+connectors
