Scully Posted February 7, 2016 Report Share Posted February 7, 2016 (edited) Hi, yes its still proof and 70mm chamber Cheers Not sure if that's a spelling mistake and you meant 'steel' proof, but just to be on the safe side, these guns have not been steel shot proofed unless it has been re-submitted to the proof house for that purpose since it's manufacture. Many Winchesters from that era were stamped on the barrel 'Winchester Proofed Steel', but it isn't a steel shot proof claim I'm afraid, rather a marketing ploy to advertise how strong Winchester barrels were. This doesn't mean you can't put steel through them; most of mine have had steel shot through them on many an occasion.
