Madcowz
Wouldn't want to ask for my ball back! She is so lovely. I used to work for the Hawk Trust many many years ago, basically helping out on the book stall at the game fairs. Used to sleep in the marquee with all the birds (yeah yeah) and it was so amazing to be up close with them. Love them. /mad

Cranfield
What a beautiful bird. I often tell the story of the Corporate Day I attended many years ago. The arrangements were for breakfast at this Country House, then a demonstration of hawks flying and the rest of the day trout fishing the estates lake and river. The handler led us through a rhododendron hedge, out on to a sloping wheat stubble field behind the house. He launched his hawk (not sure of type, but large) and proceeded to tell us about it, as it flew higher and higher. None of us noticed a springer from the Country House hunting around the rhododendron hedge. Suddenly, a cock pheasant took off and started flying up the field. Everything seemed to happen in slow motion. As the pheasant gained height, the hawk started to drop, it seemed to get faster and faster. Then it hit the pheasant in a cloud of feathers and they both fell to the ground, about 100 yards away from us. Nobody said a word, then we all turned and looked at the handler, who didn't seem to know what to say. Then I started clapping and everyone joined in.
