Im looking for a diesel/petrol 6KVA+ AC generator for mobile work. Anyone have something laying around the farm yard or workshop? would be much apreciated if you could let me know

will pay anything up to 1k for a good one, otherwise will depend on the condition, make and power output.

Cheers!

Had a peep at your site, just to let you know im after a generator suitable for mig welding with. I see that you do sell welding generators with an MMA welder atatched, but I wont really require this providing the generator has a good bit of poke, for the lowest possible price. Honda powered would be a bonus B)

Dont ask for much do I?

Cheers for your quick reply

Have got a 6KVA Saville's Industrial Generator which is Honda GX390 13HP powered with a Marcon (Stephill) B105E AC generator in a full cradle frame. It is duel fuel ie gas or petrol. Supplies both 230v at 25 amps or 115v at 50 amps. Manual start but it has never let me down.

It was mounted on a trailer with an ABT for when I went mobile but probably has only had 100/125 hours use as I changed over to smaller 12v sporting traps.

Cost over £1150 (including the gas conversion) when new yours for £625 collected

Hey

Tig is working well, thanks.

I will probably buy an add on 300a Mig machine just for generators. So if I dont find a powerfull AC, I know where to get a DC, deliverd.

The Tig seems to be working well on Stainless, but I need to get a full size bottle of gas soon. Havent got around to it. I have a big mobile job soon on a Landi thats getting modified. Should be fun.

glad your getting on all right with it :good: I bet you got a good tan on your arms  PS dont want to teach you how to suck eggs but looks like you need a little less gas flow as your getting to much heat blue. you should be able to totally eliminate the heat bloom with that setup :) it will also save you money as you wont need to buy pickle to clean the weld after

AC, thanks. I will need all the help and tips soon, going to be a self employed, mobile welder

I am also in the steps of building a machine/welding shop.

Im buying a Suzuki Sj410 as my moblie transport

Now own several welding sets, City and Guilds welding training (1yr) course completed, driving lessons almost sorted.

All I need now is to finish the driving,

Get the generator,

Sort out the Suzuki

Public liability insurance and off I go. Well not quite as easy as that.. but il do it. :good:

I have many hobbies, and so much kit, hope this one will make me some money.. shooting, climbing, welding, motorcycles.. geese enough spending, time to get down to some work work work.

Plasma cutter arrives in a week, then the fun begins :) hopefully..

A deer stalker has asked me to fabricate a lifitng crane for a pickup truck to hoist in deer carcasses. I also have an alluminium flooring/panneling project for a Landi. Works there.. Just one heck of a fight to get this on the road.. and its not over

Ferret boy, I take it you use an Arc Welder. Though welds may look rough, when done neatly, this is one of the most tough welding methods. Also known as MMA welding, its used in construction, Nuclear cooling lines, gas lines etc. Funnily enough it takes a lot more training then most forms of welding.

Heres is my simple Clarke wire fed Mig (shiny new 200a Portamig on the way) but this as already nearly paid itself off in small repairs. Yellow Tig bellow, from Auto culto.

Its done brackets..

To

simple repairs, (snapped arm, missing foot) this wheel barrow was almost sent to the scrap yard. Saved the company £45

To

BBQ garden racks

Sooo got the work lined up. Another BIG project I ave been given is this. I drew this design up and it was aproved. Its a mild steel gate that needs to be made up to prvent deer damage to the garden beyond this wall. I will use the Portamig for this. I will need to cut down the left hand wall and lay a new course of bricks.

Bump.

Now looking for a powerful, (possibly trailer type) AC Generator rather then DC, still had no luck, will give another bump for any a little closer to me, otherwise it will have to wait untill I can drive, and I will come and pick it up.

Sounds good, can you hang onto it for a little while while I get my 4x4 sorted with a tow hook?

I would definetly once I can pick it up. Your offer of a half way meet is also good of you, thanks! I will pay your fuel.
