Scully
http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/news/forget-leo-ennio-morricone-finally-won-an-oscar-after-500-movie-credits-a6904671.html Was having a browse and can't believe I'd missed this. Can't understand what took them so long. I remember the theme to 'The Good the Bad and the Ugly' on Top of the Pops way back when but didn't understand the significance then, but the soundtrack to 'A Fistful of Dollars' etc left me mesmerised as a young lad and was totally blown away when I first heard the music which accompanied 'Once Upon a Time in the West' ( got the wrong film! ) back in my teens. Have been an enormous fan ever since; particular favourites being 'Once Upon a Time in America' ( which is for the greater part, different versions of the same tune ) and 'State of Grace'. If I want to chill out I simply slonk on the sofa with my iPhone plugged into my ears and listen...bliss. It takes me everywhere. Scully
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-rHdSWZLpQ My favourite! Good choice. Hayley Westenra recorded a version of Once Upon a Time in the West with Morricone also; well worth a listen, but I still prefer the original. Scully, did you see the performance at the proms a few years ago? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tL2UsbnKBp8 I didn't. Thanks for posting; will have a longer look. Bob Monk (?) did a good version on electric guitar some years ago, if you aren't already heard it. I am going to make a point of indulging in them tunes this weekend Time never wasted. The bugle/trumpet version of A Fistful of Dollars is astounding when you think of the skill involved. Fantastic.
