Dunkield
I want to 'upgrade' my old bipod to have the knurled thumb screw like the newer ones. Anyone know where I can get one? in the UK preferably
Axe
I thought only the copies i.e Rockmounts etc had knurled thumbscrews. Be careful you don't overtighten the screw and pull the stud out, like a friend of mine did.
Dunkield
The newer 1A2's have the thum screw which I prefer, the older one I have has a slotted allen screw which means I have to carry a 20p bit to get it on/off Edit: that reply made me look at my Rockmount one to see if I could rob the screw off that for the Harris but the thread is finer
deadeye ive
Stuart Is your beloved SGC not carrying these ?
Dunkield
Not that I can see Ive. Anyone else got any ideas?? I KNOW I saw these on a site a while ago, but thought £10 (or whatever it was) was too much
CharlieT
Have you tried Midway.
Dunkield
Good tip I just had a look and can't see them. I also can't get onto the official Harris site in the US, it looks like someone else is fronting for them and have taken 'harrisbipod', and 'harrisbipods' domain names... I have dropped them an email. (the lengths we go to for a decent screw...)
CharlieT
Yes I found that when I searched a while ago. I'll keep looking for you though. If you need to source one in the states I have an address there and could order it to be delivered there and then either bring it back or have it posted to you in the UK. Let me know if I can help. Dunkield
Thanks Charlie I will see how I get on, those people gave the phone number for the factory, i will call them later maybe they will send me one for nothing
Axe
I spent a whuile trying to hunt down an email address for Harris Manufacturing but all I managed was the number listed on the sites you have already mentioned and the factory address. Illusive eh?!
Dunkield
Yes they seem to have gone underground to focus on making them, and leaving the sales/fronting of the business to these other people. Anything they can't answer gets the stock reply 'Please call the manufacturer at 270 334-3633' As I am in the office today I will do just that
Axe
Dont forget to ask for thier email address. I'm sure we can find somewhere to store it.
Dunkield
OK. Just got off the phone to Harris Engineering... Neither of those web sites are anything to do with them, but they do sell a lot of their products. Harris themselves do not have a website (!) so no email address either (which seems even more unbelievable) But the good news is, she said Mr Harris will send me one out FOC
Dunkield
Well what can I say? First class customer service and aftersales care still exists in some companies. In the post this morning, as promised, the screw I wanted, from Mr harris - free of charge A very satisfied customer.
