winnie&bezza
One of a pair that are starting to visit the table. They are safe from any projectile.
oowee
Nice to see about. Unfortunately not common here as most have been shot More than can be said for the magpies and rooks that come when I am not looking.
winnie&bezza
They are pretty oowee but still can't stand their calls. I've thinned out the magpies round the garden but there's one that still floats around eluded me. There's a big horse field behind our garden that almost always has rooks in and from my window I could hit them with air rifle but nevermind. dougall
lovely looking birds, however last year a pair of them tore apart a spotte flycatchers nest I had been watching from my office window..literally the day the chicks arrived. They now get no peace from me and the wings go to a mate who ties flies! oowee
HOW ? Do you get the magpies. I cant even get near the window. I thought of trying to decoy them to a rabbit but dog eat the only magpie decoy I had. Its also a long wait for something that might not come. I have a small pack of them that hand around here and try as i might I cant get them.
winnie&bezza
What did I say about the one eluding me! Walked to the kitchen window and there it was sitting in the tree at the end of my garden. Ran upstairs grabbed air rifle, window already open and pop down without a twitch. :-) and not making it up. winnie&bezza
i dont blame you Dougall and I would do the same if I witnessed it. I do have to think twice about shooting them but I leave them be.

The fanlight gives you more cover I find. When I first started thinning them they were just hanging around the trees at the end of the garden (about 25 yrds from window) and I shot 4 in two consecutive mormings. If you shoot one the.ln just leave it on grass upside down and they will make themselves shootable. Always leave window open if you plan on ambushing them and just be slow. Dbw1shrops
+1 on leaving the window open used to do this to great effect at my old house chuck some bread in garden at your chosen safe shooting spot in range of course let them find it and numbers build up for a while then away you go only thing is when you shoot one the rest go crazy mobbing the shot bird and they do wise up quite quickly, slow and very quiet is the key always used to leave the curtains shut also and just slowly pop the barrel through 👍

Never had enough at one time to make them wise up. Usually 3 at most. Just waiting for the new ones to move in now.
