After a bit of advice on tidying my miroku mk70 up. The stock and forend are decent bits of timber but currently the forend has the (I guess) original laquer finish and the stock has been oiled, forend should stop with nitromors and a toothbrush but not sure if/how you can strip the stocks oil finish?

Nitromors is absolutely rubbish these days. Didn't touch a Browning stock and forend, Suggest Starchem as an alternative that actually works. Will also take the oil off. Scrape with Stanley knife blade and rinse off with white spirit. I personally wouldn't be happy soaking a stock in water overnight.

It wont open up any shakes in the wood grain if its less than ten hours, done it lots of times wood comes up like new.
