TONY R
I am thinking of ways to use less acctual choke in a SXS ten, and yet Have better performance with lead Bisnmuth ITM etc. Thought about opening the chokes out to the recomended half or thereabouts where it patterns well with steel shot, and then Recess choke or Jug choke behind the choke area, as the ten bor spanish guns have long chokes, This way my thinki ng is that the Stiff Sttel shot wads wont opperate quite as well in the recess choke as a Maylar wrapped lead load would, thus giving the bbest of both worlds, A close to full choke Lead Bismuth ETC load but with ok steel shot patterns. i have used steel in the full choked spanish tens before with no issues, but with steel not ideal, and yet opening them up to half choke area, i have been a bit disapointed with lead shooting. What to do 1.. leave well alone use it like it is? 2... risk it and see,? its a radical move and it could end badly. . Stonepark
Are walls thick enough to multichoke? I know quite a few SxS 10's have been bored out to 8b. Edited June 5, 2016 by Stonepark
TONY R
It would be tight, and in my opinnion i would want more left in the tubes and that would meen shortening the barrels. They do take them out to eight bore but they are not bored true eight to the end as far as i know, they work ok, but not quite whats on the tin if you understand. The wall thickness on the ten i have here, is going to be too compromised i think with jug choking, to make this practical for me i just finnished trying to work out sizes and its not for me. I have decided to Just use it like it is, and will Use copper and Bismuth in it mainly, i have used steel in one before and it was ok, so may shoot a little through it but doubt i will bother.
