I have compared the VS against an AyA 25sl against a Browning 325 and a Berretta 20 bore to get a bit of a span of data. All of the guns opened and closed smoothly with probably only a few ounces of resistance when the guns were cocked. I then fired both barrels on each gun and opened the action to trip the ejectors. Holding the wrist of the stock I put the muzzle down on the scale and pulled down on the trigger guard. Booth of the SbS's were about 3-4 lbs indicated on the scale. The Browning 325 was about 2 lb and the Berretta 20 was a bit less. The pound markings on the scale were quite small and close together to get a real accurate measurement. It is only a rough guide but this might be of interest. When I shut the guns when both barrels fired and the ejectors tried there is an amount of felt resistance but this is because both of the ejector springs have to be compressed to recock them. This is nothing to do with what cartridges you are using or firing pins. See how you go with this.

hello, well a big thankyou for doing this and very interesting result so i am thinking it is just the nature of these guns as a further recent post a PW member has the same gun and he has stated it is more or less like mine, but unfortunate that on his one of the ejectors has broken, so i will get out and use more i think and if it can ease off better it should hope last a good few years for me as i do like the style with shorter barrels and churchill type rib, as the stock was a bit short i did use a rubber slip on pad but rather than have something fitted i bought a nice leather tied slip on and blends well with the wooden stock. so cheers for all help

glad to be of help to you. The tention will not ? should not change and they wont wear in because it is the effort needed to recock the action main spring and the ejector springs. if it does get less then you have got a problem. Both the AyA XXIV and the VS were about the same tention to recock. Be careful of a rubber boot pad thingy. Son in law got one and left it on his Berretta and it stained the woodwork really badly. dont leave it on there permenantly.
