LOP's are a grey area.

TO be really really honest you gotta hold the gun to be 100% it fits you out of the box at no additional cost.

Some dealers measure correctly, some do not. Most measure from different positions.

Many have fancy rubber pads which can be changed.

Ref the Browning Maxus, check out their web site for the various models and LOP lengths...they do vary. MY Prem came with addition spacer and is 14.25" without a spacer.

Ref the Benelli Raffaello powerbore, it comes from the factory at 14.5" with no addition parts in the box for reducing this length. You must ask a dealer to talk with GMK who then supply a shorter gun. There is an additional cost if you want a longer pad kit.

Ref the later, I have seen dealers quoting up to 1/2" (14.25" to 14.75") errors on brand new factory guns.

Definitely check the LOP yourself and handle the gun.

If your LOP needs to be 14 1/4 then thats what you need, you can't compromise, or it won't fit.

There is of course the argument that the variance in your shooting clothing throughout the year, (assuming you shoot well during this time) would suggest that there is some leeway in your required LOP.
