SNAKEBITE
I registered the birth of my son today. You get given a birth certificate free, but if you ever want to..... let's say prove your identity then you need a "long" certificate which costs £3.50. Now I know £3.50 is not a lot of money but why bother with the "free" one, it is not worth the paper it is printed on! Just have the balls to charge the money without trying fob us off. You wait until he outgrows his clothes every couple of months, and then at 17 wants a car! Good luck buddy
pin
He's not objecting to the cost, he's objecting to the justification and the completely pointless issue of a useless certificate in the first place. I agree.
Axe
As far as I remember when I registered my two, you have a choice to a full size certificate at the additional cost. Otherwise you have the new standard version. Both are equally accepted. So it comes down to wether you want to buy the older full size version or the new smaller version for free. SNAKEBITE
Not at all AXE, way off the mark. I should know I have been there, today as it 'appens! The situation today demands that for a passport etc you have to provide the "Long" certificate, which you either buy at the registration or at a later date if you choose. The "free" certificate is not really worth the paper it is written on, it just says what the baby's name etc is. You would be better off having a postcard from the hospital. It was not like this when I registered my daughter in 2000, the rules have changed. Oh and yes I do realise whats coming chaps, I've got a seven year old daughter! (But thanks for the tip off)
