Redwing

I was out picking Blackberries yesterday afternoon.. and observed the first early Redwings of the season.. 2 of them along with several blackbirds feasting on what looked like a viburnum gone wild just outside the village in Stroud.

Looking at my Bird record note books which go back to 1982 this is the earliest I've recorded them since 84 -85...and we all know how bad that winter was... I wonder ?

I wonder also how two birds manage to home in on that particular bush amongst thousands of Haws, Dogwood, Elder etc.. ?
