keg
Window steaming up when fan is set to warm, residue on windscreen, musty smell and header tank low......I'm guessing heater. Has anyone changed one?

R1nut
Check the drain in the wing is clear, water and **** gets in from the vent and can cause this problem
keg
20 years old and checked drain, it's fine, it's the lack of liquid in the header tank that makes me think it's the matrix. Thanks for the prompt replies.
landy george
The water goes to the heater matrix first then when it gets hotter the stat opens, then the main rad kicks in. You could be losing water from either. Easy job to take the matrix box out & drill all the rivets out & block up any holes in the box where the pipes come in, I'd just put a new one in. You should have a heater that blows lukewarm warm air then not freezing cold. Edited October 31, 2016 by landy george
keg
Thanks again all, went out last night and started her up, water running out of the heater box so deff heater matrix. Looks like a DIY fix so going to order the bits.
