As the title says really, I am moving up to farnborough in the end of june, which is conicidently 15mins from BIsley (and the gf thought i picked that job as it was nearist to home/her :good: ) I am considering applying for my FAC for a rimfire(s) depending on the farmer's view/take on it. However, if I don't have a FAC will I still be able to join bisley and shoot with a 'club gun'?

Thanks,

Dan

Yes and no, is the answer to that.

You can join the NRA as a probationer and then do their training courses which will cost you about £400. Or you can join a local rifle club that shoots at Bisley and be a probationer with them use their club rifles and it will probably cost you virtually nothing.

If you want to shoot .22 rimfire then there are loads of clubs locally to most large towns that have ranges you can use.

If you want to shoot fullbore then the Nra is the way to go, because once you are a full member the world is your oyster when it comes to guns. You can also hire what you like from their armoury.

£400  bloody hell thats almost a cz rf set up on its own! Well may see what the local clubs are like as realistically I only want to become proficent with the rimmies before moving onto bigger cals, went i have a bigger wage packet!

Thanks MC,

Dan

you need a section 11 to use a rifle or shotgun when your not a FAC or SGC holder, however section 11's are attached to grounds rather than people i believe, so if you are on a ground with a section 11 certificate i believe with the grounds permission you can then use a firearm. But dont quote me on that.
