hatsanmad
Hi guys has anyone loaded any 12 gauge rounds with bullseye only looking for 24-28gram loads to use it on for clays and decoyed pigeon. Any help and info would be great thanks
cervusman
If you would like to let me know your email address I will send you the data for 1oz and 7/8oz loads
fortune
Hurcules is listed as a pistol powder and not a shot shell powder. There are no shotshell loads on the alliant site for this powder. It's a fairly dirty powder which was never specifically meant for shotshells, but can be and certainly has been used in 7/8 &1oz loads, as can other handgun powders. It would be unreasonable to expect Alliant to include that marginal propellant among its shotshell recipes when there are far better powders available. One of the problems with using bullseye is an issue with the lack of bulk of the powder and the length of the wadding /shot column. It potentially could get a bit exciting quite quickly if you get it a bit wrong.
cervusman
Yes it is a pistol powder but I have used bullseye for 12bore and have the data in an alliant manual,so you are wrong my friend. fortune
Yes, I agree that there is data out there and that the powder is capable to be used to make 12 bore reloads but it is no longer in the alliant list as a shotshell powder because there are much better powders available to do the job without the risk involved. There are all sorts of combinations of recipes available but just because they can be done doesn't make them ideal or desirable. Anyone could use a lorry or a bulldozer to go shopping with but that doesn't make it sensible because although they will do the job it's not efficient and not what they were designed to do. bullseye is a pistol powder and has always been a pistol powder but it can be used to load shotgun cartridges. cervusman
So a 17.5gr charge of Bullseye with 1oz of shot in a AA Winchester case, WWAA12 wad, going at 1200fps with pressure of only 7900psi isn't efficient? It was also found it was a clean load. Edited November 26, 2016 by cervusman
Guest cookoff013
It used to be a shotgun powder. But they stopped advertising as, because they upgraded there pistol and shotgun powders.
