Old Boggy
Now I know that this has been raised and answered before so I must apologise for raising it again but I have been unable to go back through the posts to find it. A pal of mine has just taken delivery of a very nice looking over & under which is slightly marred aesthetically by the colour of the stock quite a bit darker, where I assume a slip on leather recoil pad has been used and the dye from the leather has leeched out into the wood. I seem to recall that some form of bleaching is required and possibly a total refinishing of the stock in order to obtain an even finish. Any suggestions to a solution would be greatly appreciated and I thank anyone in advance of a reply. Many thanks, OB
ips
I have had exactly the same thing. I sanded it back with 1200 grit wet and dry using a small amount of stock oil as the wet. It won't be that deep and should come off quite easily.

ips
Your welcome. Forgot to say if needs be you can use very fine wire wool after the paper this will remove any fine marks or scratches.
