toka_shigazu
Hi there everyone, i'm still stuck for choice here but am wanting to know how easy/difficult/expensive it would be to bed a varmint if necessary. i have read a number of threads about this but no exact instructions. does anyone know of any articles that will illustrate and guide me through the process? i probably wont do it myself but at the mo i'm a sponge for this info and i like to know what i'm [your'e] talking about in detail. still like the idea of the varmint but this accuracy/bedding stuff may swing it... thanks
rjimmer
Bedding a barrel into a wooden stock may result in the barrel being affected by a stock that is exposed to extremes of moisture. Leave it floating and develop or find a cartridge that suits it.
The Antipodean
Make sure you get a good quality varmint rifle and any extra bedding should not be needed.
toka_shigazu
I am hoping that the Cz 452 varmint in .22 will be o.k. but from some of the posts i have read on the rimfirecentral.com site it seems a bit hit and miss. some owners find that there is no need to modify the 'out the box' gun, others find that the shot group size is two or three time the 'average acceptable' size at a set distance. this is after they have found a ammo the rifle likes...owners then seem to do trigger jobs and bed the rifle to get better groups. on the whole it seems to work...if you believe what you read... The Antipodean
Toka, Have you tried a Sako Finnfire? if you can try before you buy compare the pair. With the Sako i can guarantee you will not have to re-bed.
