Thought this was a stinker at first.

 

Q - e7 check. Wherever king moves Q - f8 mate.

 

It's correct but you have sort of broken the puzzle. :oops:

 

The "elegant" chessy solution is Qh6, if King takes queen, then bishop to f8, if king declines to take then queen to f8.

 

I presented this one to my mate and literally within 30 seconds he suggested the queen sacrifice I've just outlined. Just run the puzzle past him again with your move and he admits he didn't see your solution. To him the sacrifice was far more obvious.

 

Not to worry. I will be more selective on the next one.
