iano
No I didn't do anything with it except load different bullets in the mag. The trigger is ok, it's quite heavy but breaks clean enough. After reading up on the T bolt it seems they don't have a generally well liked trigger. If I used match ammo and shot it off sand bags I've no doubt I could improve things but that's never going to happen when I'm rabbit shooting. Cheers Dave If you are testing out ammo, you really should try and reduce the variables so you know the group size is a function of the ammo and not something exogenous to it. There is a lot of debate as to whether you should clamp the rifle or fire it prone - they clamp in factories but some of the top target shooters say that this doesn't allow for the recoil effect. Also, when you fire some rounds, they will foul the barrel differently from the next batch. Ideally, run a cleaning rod through the barrel after each batch, but if that isn't on, then take the next batch and put some rounds down that are going straight into your backstop (10 or so). This way, your rounds that you are testing won't have the **** left from the last batch to deal with. Otherwise, you end up running a test of ammo where the variations in group sizes could be down to either the ammo, the test itself or just the fact that you are getting tired (or conditions change) during the test. Daveo26
What I did was fire a five shot group at 55m then my brother did the same then I did the same again So 15 of each type was fired. Off a bipod with no wind. Any weird results were repeated. The groups were roughly the same regardless of who shot them or wether it was the first or last group with that particular brand. Not very scientific but good enough for me. I will happily use the 40 grain winnie's up on live quarry and will probably buy a batch of magtech next. So I consider the testing worth while.
