SimpleSimon
Having some trouble with my Xtrail at the moment and was advised in another thread to get a fault code reader. I can see that being useful, as I'd like to see if I can sort it out myself before it goes to the garage. Obviously to know if I've been successful I'll need a way of reading and cancelling the fault codes. Any advice on what to buy, what not to buy? Will a cheap simple one do what I need, and what do expensive ones do in addition? Many thanks!
malmick
Make sure that whatever you get is OK for simple Nissan diagnostic codes. Anything more complex might need reading with Consult II or III compliant software. Try here http://www.x-trail-uk.co.uk/index.php for a read. Me matt
I purchased one of these a few years ago Streetwize OBDII Fault Code ReaderProduct Code: 553997350 From Euro car parts, helped diagnose a couple of issues on our petrol Xtrail, have also used it numerous times on friend and relatives car's of all makes and models. Once code number is given- a quick internet search will bring up a large amount surrounding said fault and the way it's been remedied by other owners. Hope that helps.
