vmax
I shoot a lot of ferals in disused buildings with a Theoben Fenman .22. I generally use H&N hollow points which are pretty effective. I am finding that at ranges in excess of 25yrds, I am wounding more than I would like. Fenman is running at 11.5Ilb/Ft. In some cases cant get closer than 25yrds hence longer shots. Cant always get a full sight picture so cant gaurantee chance of a head shot. Aiming point is neck above breast bone, or side of chest as a second choice. Anyone suggest non-hollow pellet choice perhaps ? Might need more penetration than hollows give. Dont want to wound uneccesarrily if I can help it, but at the end of the day, clearing pigeons is my job. Thanks all.
sharp_shooter
i use round heads for all my shooting except long range rabbits then i use pointed. i reccomend the crosman range.
Sean R
I only ever use Crossman Accupells .22 (round heads). They suit my type of shooting and always produce clean kills. I have had problems with them lately so I've been shooting Bisley Premiers .22 (pointed) and they also kill cleanly to almost 50 yards. Hope this aids with your problem
murrayfuk
h+n field and target trophy ......... longer range than the hollow point,, i use hollows for pigeons , rats and crows for ranges between 15- 25 yards anything above that i use the field and targets cheers Murray
brain dead
The rounded head ones are better for shooting up close than the hollow points because i find they can over penetrate as close range but for stuff further away the H&N are deadly.
