12g Shotshell Reloading... Done to death but where do i start?!

Yes I know what you mean, you have to sort through it

yeah, an example.

guy reloads target ammo, 1,1/8oz. nothing funny there, but he is using scoops. his powder is dropped by a machine and a bushing chart. which is not totally accurate, then uses a scoop for the 1oz of shot and about 1/4 scoop for the remaining 1/8oz of shot ??

because it fits better??

i tend to to like the italian reloading sessions. they are really good.

Thanks Cook! there was something we were good at ....just couldn't remind what

aye, if you look at youtube, you can load batteries, nail and whatnot ... but they also show you how to create an handmade gun ... the fact that can be done doesn't meant it's safe to do!

that random 1 gram of lead in the shell can give you 100 bar extra easily... that's why all powder suggest 2 charges of powder and 2 of shots (normally summer and winter charges) because they must be weighted!

this is like using the shell more than twice: every time you loose 1 mm or so in the crimp which in turn gives you anything between 50-150 bars more on the same recipe (depending on powder and gauge~); reloading the same shell 3 times on the same recipe and you're on the high side of pressure....

This might be acceptable on a 24 grams clay load where you go from 550 to 700 bar (providing you use the same quantity of powder/pellets) but on an heavy/steel load.... i wouldn't do that!

That said, lee/mec crimp loses you 60-80 bar compared to a spooled, factory like crimp and american powders tend to be a lot more stable than EU manufactured ones.... still, dangerous games on youtube :hmm: ...

  • 1 month later...

Just cartridges or George on here from proper cartridges will be the cheapest option you have. George travels all over the place so search on here and his mobile number will be available to call him. Loading your own basic carts buying everything bar cases will cost a chunk more than ready made.

Not when he,s paying £10 a box !
