LWalker
Hey, I was wondering if any one has ever build a wooden cradle/stand for feeders aposed to the traditional 3 legs option. Thanks

Walker570
Yes, I have made what are simply stools with the legs extended up about 9 inches. Three legs and the triangle supports the drum. Also use the same for cut down 45 gal drums. I cut 6 inches off the top off a 45 gall drum , not the type with the lid, the enclosed version with just the caps. I then crimp round the next 6 inches ..easy to make a tool out of 30 mill square tube, cut a six inch slot down a section and weld another 18 inches at 90 degrees, slid this on the edge of the drum and do a half turn to the right then re adjust and a half turn left all the way round. This reduces the rim so that the six inch section you cut off will slide over as a lid. Holds a couple of bags easily and is squirrel proof. Takes two peckers far enough apart that birds will often share. The stools can also be made with tantalised timber driven in as legs and cross pieces for support if you don't have a welder.
