Then start to take her out for small walks 10mins is enough at a time and do this as many times during the day as you want, she'll be running in and around your feet so be careful not to trod on her, keep her on the lead at this stage and get her used to being close to you. As for socialisation take her to puppy training classes, Cockers need to be socialised early from what i'm told. Just keep it fun, gorgeous looking pup BTW, good luck! This can be applied all the way up to a year old, by which time the skeletal structure should be fully formed and the risk of over exercising recedes. Hope this halps. new to the flock
Mossa, Has she had all of here shots yet?, and are you talking about walking her on or off lead? If she has not had all of her shots yet I would suggest that you hold off taking her out where other dogs have been until then. Spend the time in the back yard using a treat and a lead training her to sit and to heel so that you will be ready to head out. This will allow you to have a puppy that heels along beside you, and is not learning to pull on the leash. It also allows you to make a proper correction if she does start to pull or get out of position. Keep it Fun NTTF
Lancs Lad
First bit of advice I would give you is Dont listen to what people tell you about cockers that dont have a cocker themselves. I was taking Jaz out for about 10 mins on his lead, He was put on a lead from day 1 when we picked him up from the breeder. His first walk out was to the pet shop. There was no pulling, tugging, lying down etc etc. I put him on a loose slip lead and just followed him around for a short while, loads of encouragement etc etc. When he had ALL of his jabs we took a good walk up to the local shops about a 25 min journey all around, he was very keen. pulling away getting in front etc etc. He did have a good sleep when we got back though.... Hes now nearly 5 months old and is good on the lead, learning to heel and often likes to pick a section of his lead into his mouth when we first set of in the mornings. Enjoy your training with your dog.......................I mean, after all..............cockers are right ******* to train.......... Or so they say......
