moses
Hello all, I have my FEO visit on 21st and wondered if anyone could give me any useful advice. I have spoken to him today to confirm the appointment and we were discussing home security, I have ordered a cabinet and was hoping to have it fitted before the appointment. When we talked about the cabinet today he expressly told me not to fit it. I don't want to do something he has told me not to as we may get off on the wrong foot but, I also don't want to have to wait for another visit and slowdown my application futher as it has been 5 weeks until I got a phone call! Also could any members help me with the kind of questions I will be asked as I want to be prepared? Cheers Moses
henry d
If you are a member of BASC or CPSA why not ask there too ? They helped me with mine and even volunteered to come and sit in whilst the FLO was there.
pin
From what I can tell most FLO's won't object to you having fitted a cabinet first, if he's specifically told you not to then perhaps there are extenuating circumstances which need discussion / clarification first? There is nothing to stop anyone from fitting a gun cabinet, even if you have no intention of ever owning a gun. I think you would know if there might be anything which would give them grounds for denying your application

I think you would know if there might be anything which would give them grounds for denying your application I know of no reason why they would have grounds to deny my application, I have a completely clean record, I have my DSC1 certificate, I have letters for land use for all calibres requested, I am a BASC member also. Will my experience be a problem? I have only been on 5 Stalking weekends.
pin
I'm not an FLO so I can't really answer that question, however in the UK experience doesn't really seem to come into it that much. Sure they like to see evidence you know which end is the dangerous end etc, but in reality all you need is "good reason". Sounds like you have that, but if I may I take the inference from your reply you are a first time applicant asking for deer legal centrefire rifles? If that is the case they may well insist on you being mentored something of that nature.

I have spoken to BASC about this today and they told me the FEO can not legally insist on this, they said I am intitled to request the standard home office conditions ie, any land deemed suitable buy the cheif officer of police. pin
I'm not saying they can or can't, this is outside of my comfort zone with regards FAC conditions and stuff. All I know is be yourself, be upfront about everything! They have a routine when they come round, let them go through it and answer any questions you are asked, don't talk yourself out of it! Good luck!
