bobthenailer22
most of the time you will find that ferrets don't need any trg at all as hunting is natural for them. only advise is that you handle them as much as you can to increase the raport between you. when you first hunt with them start them of in a small warren that may only be home to a few rabbits that way they too will gain confidence. ferrets love to play in old tubes, boxes, old welly boots etc so if you have a run it's a good idea to put some of these items to play with for them. good luck any more questions then just ask. regards bob
Cranfield
I agree with bobthenailer22, But I would also add that, when you first work them, don,t work them in the same earth together. Work them singly in alternate earths. Otherwise they sometimes play about and are slow to come out. Best of luck.
tiercel
As someone who has owned ferrets over 40 years. I think that i might be able to give some positive advice here. There are a few criteria that have to be met to gain good working ferrets. No 1 Most important, they have to be from good working stock. No 2 They must have total confidence in you the handler, and be biddable, ie. come when called. That is easily achieved by calling them for their food. No 3 Before entering them to their first warren, there are two rules to follow, there MUST be rabbits at home, and ALWAYS enter them at the lowest point of the warren.Young ferrets do not like going down hill, but will walk up hill quite readily. If these few simple rules are followed you should not have much trouble with your ferrets.
