SNAKEBITE
Oh now come on, don't you dare post that without spilling the beans. Now your a mod he can't smite you back so out with it! OK are you sitting comfortably, yes, then I shall begin... Once upon a time I bought a Hawke scope on ebay for a song, it was new or almost new. I tried it on .22 and to be honest it didn't seem to offer anything more than my old Hawke. About that time I had a peek through Meopta scope and knew I had to have that instead. So I punted the Hawke on ebay for more than I paid for it, job done, everyone was happy (well I was anyway) Fast forward 9 months or so, I am now a PW member and the subject of Hawke Pro Stalks comes up. I say I had one and didnt think it was all that, and mentioned (bragged maybe..) that I outed mine for a profit. A user called Snakebite chips in to say he likes his one, the one he bought off ebay 9 months ago Both he and I are putting 2 and 2 together in the background and when I check my emails I did in fact sell it to some bloke in Burgess Hill It is indeed a small world, and it would seem you can never be too careful about what you say on here The thread must still be there somewhere, about a year and a bit ago. I will now watch this thread with my finger hovering over the 'del' key Like I said. Too many crooks! To be honest though I still use the scope now with no intention of getting another. Works well enough.

Mungler
Okay the update is that Paypal have dismissed my complaint because I was unable to produce tracking information for the return of the incorrect car mats sent to me by the seller - that's not the law but it appears to be their policy. The back ground is: 1. the seller sends me the wrong mats 2. I ask the seller "will you be collecting the wrong mats from me or how do you want me to get them back to you?" 3. the seller says "post them back" [that's it] (NB, does not specify tracked delivery, courier delivery or otherwise) 4. I go the post office and think that I will be sending the mats back by tracked delivery anyway but find out that the cost is more than the mats and what I have already paid out (I think the mats were about £25 and recorded delivery return posting was going to be about £28) 5. I opt for sending them back with proof of posting NB, the sellers return instructions do not specify this and I am not legally obliged 6. I get proof of posting from the Post Office but there is a problem. The full address on the proof of posting does not match the address I put on the covering letter which went on the parcel - the post office counter took the post code off the covering letter, put the post code into their computer system and matched it with another business for the purposes of printing the proof of posting receipt. NOTE (and this is the important bit) where the mats were addressed to and delivered to is the address as specified by me on the covering letter that was sellotaped to the returns parcel - the address on the proof of posting is (I understand) merely a form of receipt / proof from the post office. Accordingly, the whole proof of posting thing is a red herring because I complied with the sellers instructions in any event "post them back". This is the bit PayPal couldn't get their heads round. Incidentally, this is quite basic but useful and which is worth sticking into your favourites http://boards.fool.co.uk/Message.asp?mid=9892406 So, suitably peeved the seller gets to suck on a County Court Claim Form. Updates to follow.
WeihrauchPower
Some would say you have had a good run, without bumping into a shyster. I have 189 purchases with 100% feedback and only come close to having a problem about 6 months ago and that was over some car mats. However the Seller was in Manchester , not Liverpool and was selling them before he had received them. His Supplier let him down and the mats never arrived. I have my Paypal account linked to my MBNA credit card and when the refund never turned up, I notified them. They pulled the money back from Paypal within 24 hours. That was the last I heard of it I've done the same with my card! The thing i've found (buying or selling) on Ebay is that the yanks are the ones to avoid! If i can help it i no longer buy from them. I sold a Realtree Jacket to one a while back. He never payed or replyed emails! So i relisted and sold again. TWO months later i received a payment and message " I've been serving in Iraq....". I refunded the money and showed him where he could buy another! What was he thinking! That i'd have been holding the item for him for two months! Updates to follow. Mung, You can only hope the threat of the county court will be enough for him to refund your money but if he doesnt don't hold your breath. I had a similar ebay problem, I bought a new scope mounted lamp but when it arrived it was scratched and obviously well used. Seller offered to knock off a fiver which I declined and asked for a refund. The seller went quiet and I couldn't contact him until I mailed him to say that I would try the county court to get my money back. Anyway, he told me that i was a chancer and to get lost. I duely submitted my papers to the court and turned up on the day of the hearing. The seller didn't show and I won the case and was awarded costs etc on top. Bloke still hasn't paid and its now not worth following up. Its likely to cost me heaps trying to chase him. He has a ccj against him but i suspect he has many others. Best of luck
Pushkin
Might be worth contacting the bailliefs - costs are reasonable and - in my instance - was worth the money if not for anything more than the hassle it caused the guy when they appeared at his door Pushkin
Teal
Just made an order through paypal to the tune of £500 from some stuff in the states. The last email I have from the guy is on the 3rd (when I paid) when he said: I will ship via USPS with Insurance and a tracking number. You should have the order in 7-10 days. He then sent a further email to say "Your cameras will ship on Monday.". I sent him an email yesterday and another one today to try and find out what the tracking number is and if the items have been despatched. I'm yet to receive a reply and am getting slightly twitchy. Although the transaction was not actually over ebay, he has 7500+ feedback there, but would really like to put my mind at rest...
