Chris85
Hi, Just bought a double auto and it's a steel receiver model with just 296 stamped on the receiver, this would appear to be a 1952 model. Like all modern guns are the barrels on these guns stamped with the same serial number? I ask as mine isn't but still has a 1952 code on it. klatuveradanikto
Mine has a "c" for steel receiver, welcome to the classic browning club, strip it at least once just to make sure everything is OK also check the locking square on the barrel to make sure it's not cracked, it happened on one of my barrels, enjoy. Chris85
Whole thing has been stripped down, bolt stripped trigger out and all cleaned etc Takes a bit of working out how the trigger comes out and bolt comes apart but all fun. Mine has 2mm of brass added on the receiver so that it will cycle more modern day clay loads From what I can gather mine is one of the first made that didn't have the Prefix letters
Graham M
I didn't think they made the Double Automatic until 1955
Chris85
That's what I thought but when watching a video on YouTube it gave you the bands of serial numbers and it started at 1952. I read more and found an article saying it was released in 1952 in Europe and didn't get a good following so was then realeased in the US in 1955
