Graphic Gutted Foxes !, bunny's too

It's been a difficult time trying to get out with some ok weather, lots of wind and rain to contend with.

But rain or shine go out we must :good:

Over looking a promising fox hot spot - turned out I was sitting on one of their runs - reccy's always pay off eventually.

Back later to get two cubs - close at 40 & 80 yards with the .243

Then despite the rain I had a .17hmr to zero, looked at first like the shower would pass but in the end I got soaked, it was worth it though as I got the bunny's.

These were shot at close range (for the hmr) at 50 - 80 yards due to the wind - gusting across the field - luckily the grass had just been cut so I could at least see them.

Roll on harvest and the sun out.

Cheers

.243 making instant work of charlie and a good few brace of clean headshot rabbit.

Potentially answering my own question, how do you find the little hmr pill in the rain? I tried and might just have been unlucky? Few wayward shots I thought might have not liked the downpour. Thinking about it, was more likely the muppet looking through the sight!

Well done andy - Good to see someone else use a 243 on cubs - what bullets were you using mate???

Cheers Paul :good:

Hi Paul,

At the moment 95g Noslers BT's, the same as I use for deer, the foxes don't seem to mind them.

I have tried lighter bullets and they work ok too, but the 95g's work perfectly well at the distances that I shoot and I keep the same zero.

the wind was up so I went closer for the bunny's, zeroing in the rain was no problem.

Cheers

Andy
