Guest rabgoat
i fitted the second tightest spring then removed it thought it was too light, and then put in the tightest spring in the kit, didn't fit any of the tubes i don't mind a bit of take up. pin
The right answer is, as long as it's not dangerously light (ie anything much under 1.5lb) then it's whatever you find works for you. I like a light trigger so mine has the second lightest spring in it. Although mass produced these are to tolerance so one trigger group won't be the same as the next, you will have to try and see.. If you do go light then make sure you thoroughly test it with a safe gun (empty shell or something) to make sure there is no chance it can fire if dropped, banged, bashed or whatever... steve b
WARNING ON THESE KITS Initially I put the second hardest spring in together with the thickest tube. This was light but I initially tested the rifle and it was fine. However I had a weak extractor claw band which would not remove an unfired chambered round. At the same point as this fault became apparent the rifle stopped cocking and left the firing pin forward when working the bolt. When I closed the bolt against the round in order to try to extract it the firing pin hit the round stuck in the breach and it FIRED (the rifle was in a safe direction as I was aware that there was a problem by this stage) I got the spring on the extractors changed as it was found to be very weak (on a two week old gun). I spoke to the gunsmith about the brooks kit and he said it simply was not putting enough engagement in the sear. I put in a thinner tube and adjusted the nut tensioner on the spring I had put in to firm up the trigger a tad. This sorted the problem (I must have worked the bolt 200 times to ensure it did not happen again. IN SUMMARY these kits are great for the mon ey but be very careful in gioing too light and perhaps initially avoid the thickest tube OR get a gunsmith to chect the safety of the rifle. I was very unfortunate to get both faults at once which obviously meant the live round remained chambered whilst operating the bolt. Be safe Steve b
