High Desert Hunter
I am guessing that this is for a .223 Rem? If that is the case, according to the Hodgdon Load Center web site, 25gr of Varget will get you 2924FPS, this is with a 60gr Vmax. http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp Dave

dunganick
in my experiance there is not really such a thing as an alternative, you will need (most likely) to do a load work up again, even changes in batches of primers can effect accuracy, so a change in powder manufactor i would expect to change the load completely. I hope im wrong sounds like you have got bitten by the reloading bug well and trully
mry716
Until I read Dunganick's post it never occured to me that you might intend using the same load data for a different powder. DONT - as said work up a new load.
rossandjet
You cant get H4895? suprising as Hodgdon is usually very good for availability, oh sorry, I bought it all last week for my 22-250 he he. I like Viht 135 too, it also usually has good availability but like they say, work up that load! I was told that the Impoters of Hodgdon powders ( Edgar Bros ) have lost their import licence and that all their powders will be hard to get for a while. I'm only telling you this as I have just got a tub of varget and 4895
