ShaggyRS6
Item Reviewed: Deerhunter Weapon Slip Design No. 7034 Colour: 40 Innovation Description: Weapon Slip Size: 17 litre Materials: Oxford nylon pvc coating I guess its becoming apparent that I am a Deerhunter fan. So, without further a do I have taken time out to review the Deerhunter Shotgun Gun Bag. I’ve called it a shotgun bag for one reason. The first item I tried to fit in the bag was my trusty Daystate X3 with a Nikko Sterling Diamond scope. Ok, it’s a big scope but I cant believe (as much as I love Deerhunter) that manufacturers of these shotgun/rifle slips do not cater for a rifle with a big scope. I digress. Having discovered the bag was no good for my rifles I then tried a Shotgun. Perfect fit. Lets carry on with the review. The slip is made from Deerhunters Oxford nylon and is PVC coated which is fully water proof. I have had gun slips in the past that you pick up from your local gun shop that look like a bargain, but, get them out in the rain and you will find that the water has soaked all the through the slip, even worse, if you use the pockets on your slip to store other equipment or maybe permission slips or your licence, well, it just makes sense to spend some extra cash on a slip that keep water out. I even use mine as a ground sheet for the rifle when the grass is wet. The slip has a multitude of pockets. There is one pocket in particular that is great. In fact I can imagine the Designers at Denmark chatting away in Danish when all of a sudden a light bulb appeared over Peter Schmichael’s head (all Danish men have that name I think) accompanied by a “dingâ€. *Danish Accent†I assume it’s like German. I know. Vee shoot put a pellet pouch on zee gun slip. Zis is a zooper idea. Yah? However they came up with the idea I’m glad they did. It really does make life easier not to have to carry tins on pellets. On the subject of pockets. You will find, like most gun slips that there is a large side pocket to the butt end of the slip. Nothing out of the ordinary, but do remember that this one is water proof. Fully tested by me as well by way of a hose pipe. The slip has two ways in which you can carry it. 1. by a handle on top of the bag and 2 by an adjustable padded shoulder strap. Like most gun slips the strap is very easy to adjust. We have proven that the slip will keep your gun dry. It looks good in its camo colours, its easy to carry as well. How well though does it protect your very expensive gun? Once you open the bag you will find its lined with a soft lambs wool type material. I’m not exactly sure what it’s made out of, but it does look like lambs wool. Its definitely not the man made fibre you get in the cheaper gun slips. If you are going to spend a fortune on a gun then you owe it to yourself not to skimp on its protection. Especially if you rough shoot. I always carry by shotgun in the bag between the areas I will be shooting in as I am always climbing fences or walking between trees. I have lost count of the amount of times I have knocked the gun slip into a tree trunk, or caught the bag on barbed wire. Never has my shotgun been damaged. To sum up, there is not an awful lot you can say about a Gun Slip. It carry’s a gun. BUT, spend a little extra on the right slip and you could save yourself money and tears in the long run. I think this particular slip from Deerhunter is £40 well spent.

mr lee
I bought the very same slip a few weeks ago but haven't as yet got any pictures of it. Cost £25 though. It is a cracking slip too. The pellet pocket will easily fit two tines of 200 Acupells in there. I haven't tried with a few tines of 500's though. The top pocket fits targets in with a slight bend to them or you can just tuck them into the main bag. I have used mine also for laying on when the grass was wet and having the rifle on a small shooting sack to steady it and keep it dry. Not once have I had any water come through it and it's had a proper test this last few weeks. It fits my Weirauch 95k with silencer in comfortably with about 2-3" to spare. (tis a long rifle )

ShaggyRS6
Update. Since the review I started using this slip to carry by HMR. Bas mistake. It does not like the balk or weight, or both. The stiching on the zip has started to come away. I got the wife to repair it and will only carry a shotty in it now.
