peejay
can anyone tell me of anofficial web site, as ive mailed defra twice now and not had an answer, that can answer this question? i know you have to take springers to the vets to be docked, but some vets say they wont release the certificates till you bring ALL the pups back at 8 weeks to be microchipped??? surley you cant take all the pups in on the 8th week as how the hell will you know what tag is in which pup? surley microchiping is up to the buyer.. or is the vet after more cash? thanks
al4x
at a guess the vet is covering his back so he knows for definite which pups he's docked. After all you could in theory take one pup in to get it done get the paperwork sorted and do the rest of the litter yourself and who would be the wiser one pup at a few days old looks much like another. Microchipped they can tell for definite that they docked that puppy.

If they don't, & at any time in the future, there is a query/problem it can be retraced back to the breeder, who would then be held responsible, he therefore advised me to microchip the pups before the sale, that way I KNOW everything is LEGAL & above board. As for the vet trying to screw money out of you, thats not the case, all you do is add the price of microchip to price of pup. Hope that helps m8. As for identifying the pups, I took photos of each pup & as he chipped them I put the chip details on the photo of said pup.
